On Saturday, Sept. 24, team NCD headed to the Hartford Marriott Downtown in Hartford, Connecticut for the Sam’s Children annual benefit event. The Rocky Hill, Connecticut-based nonprofit was founded by Sam’s Food Stores to provide non-medical financial assistance to families that have children with serious illnesses and disabilities.

The formal benefit, which featured a sit-down dinner, a jazz band, a speech from Connecticut senator Richard Blumenthal and exciting raffles, highlighted sponsors like NCD and raised funds for Sam’s Children. All proceeds from the event help affected families to acquire necessities like household items and utilities, food, school supplies, scholarships and clothing for their children.

Both NCD’s New England and Tri-State Divisions service over 50 Sam’s Food Stores, thus strengthening their nearly 10-year partnership with Sam’s Children. Amongst NCD’s attendees were executive vice president of divisional sales, Marty Glick, and Tri-State Division field sales regional manager, Andy Hamed.

“Marty and I were honored to be invited to the Sam’s Children annual benefit dinner…” said Hamed. “Since this was our first time attending this event, we had a lot to look forward to and I have to say they did not disappoint. The venue was beautiful and [the event was] well-organized. We [also] had the opportunity to network and catch up with customers. I’m really looking forward to attending this event on an annual basis.”

“I always tell my sales team that “c” in c-store means community. NCD is proud to support Sam’s Food Stores and Sam’s Children because they give back to our community,” added Glick. “It’s all about being there for one another.”

Sam‘s Children, led by Naeem Khalid and Hamid Bijari, has aided over 1,000 Connecticut families thanks to the generous donations and support from retailers, community members and corporate sponsorships.
