Mentos Celebrates One Year of American Dental Association Acceptance
In April of 2021, Mentos Fresh Mint and Spearmint Pure Fresh Gum received the ADA’s Seal of Acceptance, which proved that the product was safe and effective in preventing cavities when chewed for 20 minutes after eating. The seal appears on the sugar-free gum’s 50-piece curvy bottle and asserts Mentos’ dedication to consumer well-being.
The ADA Council on Scientific Affairs’ Acceptance of Mentos Pure Fresh Gum is based on its finding that the physical action of chewing Mentos Pure Fresh Gum stimulates saliva flow, causing the reduction of acids and making teeth more resistant to decay.
Mentos’ attainment of the ADA Seal is a crucial step for retailers that stock the product, as two thirds of Americans recognize the Seal, with 70 percent saying they would choose a Seal product over a non-Seal alternative, according to the ADA. Most respondents said that they would even pay more for it.
Over the last year, the brand’s initiatives to prioritize consumer health have further solidified their position as one of the five most popular refreshment candy brands in the world. In the United States, Mentos Gum has been the second fastest growing gum brand over the past five years and is the fourth favorited gum brand in the United States chewing gum category.
